Answers

Jorgie – 17- slightly empty and picture is out of focus – does not correlate so well with the image (maybe using a drop shadow behind the logo can make it appeal more)- use accenting fonts as well as a more focussed image- seems good so far ( can see it is in development)- it can be improved by using stock images to gather an idea of how you want the appearance to be – the pages flow well together- maybe use outlines on the text boxes to make it clearer to the audience.

Paige – 18 – The front cover challenges typical magazine conventions, for example the use of alcohol and the fact the image is out of focus, as long as this is justified I think it can get you a really good grade. I feel the colour of the logo seems slightly random, yet is more justifiable when I realised the DPS is the same colour. The front cover could have more cover lines to make it feel slightly less empty. The contents page is good, yet I feel the blue colour is totally different to the cover logo and the DPS therefore it disrupts the continuous theme. Changing the blue to the same blue as the DPS and logo or changing it to a totally different colour may suit better because it feels like far too much blue. The placement of the text in the DPS is very interesting, I like it and the borders tie in with the logo on the front cover as I have already mentioned. It clearly needs images added, but so far really good!

The conclusion I can draw from those responses are that the strengths in my magazine lie in my layout and house style but the pictures and colours need work.
